Musculoskeletal disorders are frequently overlooked and underdiagnosed reason for discomfort and disorder during the pregnancy. Although some reasons for musculoskeletal discomfort are typical and benign, it is important to assess the patient completely. An effective examination may negate the requirement for imaging.
However, imaging to identify a pathologic disorder should not be prevented because the patient is pregnant. A precise diagnosis allows the indicated treatments to optimize outcomes. Generally, the evaluation and management are identical for pregnant and non-pregnant patients.
