Control over pregnant trauma patients needs a multidisciplinary team response. Immediate priorities for resuscitation are identical both for the pregnant and for the non-pregnant patients. During resuscitation, it is important to understand that the fetus is a superb monitor for maternal blood loss as placental blood flow is reduced early with maternal hypovolemia. Finally, obstetricians must keep in mind that delivery of the fetus either alive or dead might be life saving for the mother.
