IVF success continue to improve and the reasons are manifold, including improved ovulation induction medications, refined laboratory techniques, less traumatic embryo transfer catheters, and the development of ancillary procedures e.g. ICSI. The success rate for individual patient after IVF is affected by numerous factors including the number of embryos transferred, cycle number, ovarian reserve, age, and diagnosis. Center-specific data are difficult to compare owing to the variation in patient selection and philosophy regarding treatment.
